Gauld sets up Armstrong for first Whitecaps goal
Vancouver ends preseason with 2-0 win over Pacific FC
Whitecaps FC wrapped up their 2023 preseason schedule with a 2-0 win over Pacific FC at Starlight Stadium in Langford on Saturday afternoon.
Ryan Gauld set up Brian White for the opening goal in the 30th minute, and Alessandro Schöpf doubled the lead in the 65th minute.
The ‘Caps controlled the majority of the possession and chances throughout the match, and they were rewarded for their efforts with two well-taken goals.
Gauld was a constant threat down the left flank, and he created several good chances for his teammates. His pass to White for the opening goal was inch-perfect, and it allowed the American forward to finish with ease.
Schöpf’s goal was a thing of beauty. The Austrian midfielder collected the ball just outside the area, and he curled a left-footed shot into the top corner of the net.
The Whitecaps will now turn their attention to the regular season, which begins on March 4th with a match against FC Cincinnati at BC Place Stadium.
