BTS Members Depart for Military Service

Staggered Departures and Discharge Dates

In 2022 and 2023, members of the popular K-pop group BTS began departing for mandatory military service in South Korea.

Jin

The oldest member, Jin, was the first to enlist in December 2022 and is expected to be discharged in June 2024.

RM and V

RM and V followed in December 2023. Their discharge dates are expected to be in August and October 2024, respectively.

Jimin and Jungkook

Jimin enlisted in December 2023 and is scheduled for discharge in June 2025. Jungkook has yet to announce his enlistment date, but is expected to depart sometime in 2024.

Military Divisions

The BTS members are serving in different divisions of the South Korean Army. Jin joined the 36th Homeland Defense Infantry Division, while RM and V are part of the 30th Mechanized Infantry Division.

Reunion

The full group is not expected to reunite until at least 2025, when all members have completed their military service.
