Live satellite images and forecasts show Tropical Storm Debby approaching the northwestern coast of Cuba, with Florida in its path. Expected to make landfall early Sunday, residents along the state’s Gulf Coast are bracing for potential impacts.
As of Sunday morning, Debby was located about 130 miles northwest of Havana, Cuba, with sustained winds of 65 mph. The National Hurricane Center (NHC) has issued a Hurricane Warning for a portion of Florida's Gulf Coast, stretching from Clearwater to Indian Pass.
Tropical Storm Debby is the fourth named storm of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season, following Tropical Storm Alberto, Hurricane Beryl, and Tropical Storm Chris. The storm formed Saturday afternoon over the central Gulf of Mexico and has since strengthened. The NHC warns that Debby could bring heavy rainfall, storm surge, and winds to Florida upon landfall.
