EINDHOVEN - Olivier Boscagli is no longer a PSV player. The defender has been immediately dismissed by the club after a serious incident on Monday evening.
VVCS reported earlier on Tuesday that Boscagli had been arrested after hitting a woman in the face. PSV confirms this news and states that the player's employment contract has been terminated with immediate effect.
"PSV deeply regrets this incident," said general manager Marcel Brands. "Our club stands for values such as respect and sportsmanship. These values have been seriously violated by Olivier Boscagli. We cannot and will not tolerate such behavior."
Boscagli was arrested by the police on Monday evening and spent the night in jail. He will appear in court on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old defender has been playing for PSV since 2019. He has made 67 appearances for the club and scored 2 goals.
PSV is currently in second place in the Eredivisie, 4 points behind leaders Ajax. The club will play their next match on Sunday at home to FC Utrecht.
