Afghanistan Cricket Team Stuns Australia in T20 World Cup
The Afghanistan cricket team pulled off a stunning upset on Friday, defeating previously unbeaten Australia by 21 runs in the Twenty20 World Cup.
Led by a brilliant bowling performance from Rashid Khan, who took 4 for 38, Afghanistan restricted Australia to 168 for 8 in their 20 overs.
In reply, Afghanistan got off to a solid start with openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Hazratullah Zazai putting on 43 for the first wicket.
After Zazai was dismissed for 28, Gurbaz continued to anchor the innings, scoring a vital 66 off 44 balls.
Captain Mohammad Nabi then came in and played a brilliant cameo of 25 not out from 15 balls to help Afghanistan seal the win with three balls to spare.
The victory keeps Afghanistan's hopes of reaching the semifinals alive, while it leaves Australia's chances hanging in the balance.
