Pope Francis clears way for Venerable Carlo Acutis to become first Millennial saint

The "Computer Whiz Saint" will be beatified by the Catholic Church on 10 October 2020.

Acutis, who was born in London in 1991 and died in Monza, Italy, in 2006 at the age of 15, will become the first Millennial saint.

The Vatican announced on Thursday that Pope Francis cleared the way for an Italian teenager to become the first Millennial saint.

Carlo Acutis, who died of leukemia in 2006 at the age of 15, was informally known as "God's Computer Whiz" because of his devotion to the Eucharist and his skill at using technology to spread the Catholic faith.

Acutis's beatification, the last step before sainthood, will take place on 10 October 2020, in Assisi, Italy.

In a statement, the Vatican said that Acutis "lived a short but intense life, full of love for God and neighbor, and offered to all, especially young people, an example of holiness in the digital age."

Acutis's story is a reminder that holiness is possible for anyone, regardless of their age or circumstances.

He is a role model for young people today, showing them that it is possible to use technology for good and to make a difference in the world.
